Our Real Estate Market: The First Half of 2014 Review

The real estate market East of Seymour in 2014 seems to have gotten busier and busier with each passing month.   March, May and June were very strong. There have been a lot of homes sold and many multiple offer situations. Having said that, prices have not been pushed higher because while there were a good number of sales, there were also a lot of homes available in most of the pockets for buyers in the East of Seymour area.  To get an idea of how the market looks in your area, please see the chart below:

(Inventory refers to the number of homes that were available for buyers to purchase in a given month and sales of course refers to the number of those homes that actually sold).

chart for Cove Crier

*Based on the number of active/sold listings of Detached Houses in each sub-area as reported on MLS®.

There are still a significant number of buyers attending open houses relative to how slow the market usually is at this time of year. While activity is likely to drop off more as we head into August, given the number of buyers currently searching, we expect the fall market to be very good for sellers.

If you have been thinking of selling this fall, now is the time to get ready so that your home will be available when all of the buyers get back from summer vacation!  If you would like some advice on preparing your home, the best time to sell or price, please let us know.
